UP: Student duped in love, betrayed days before formal wedding

UP News: In a heart-wrenching incident from Agra, a BA student from Loha Mandi was allegedly deceived and exploited by a relative, Anil Kumar, a resident of Fatehpur Sikri. The accused initially lured the victim into a relationship and later married her in a temple to suppress allegations of sexual assault. However, days before their formal marriage ceremony, the accused betrayed her trust by marrying another woman.

A Love Trap That Turned into Exploitation

The victim narrated her ordeal to the police, revealing that Anil had trapped her in a relationship about one and a half years ago. The accused began speaking to her regularly over the phone, building her trust. About five months ago, he persuaded her to meet at a hotel on Sikandra-Bodla Road, where he raped her. When she threatened to file a complaint, Anil promised to marry her, convincing her to drop the case.

Temple Marriage and Broken Promises

On November 8, Anil married the victim in an Arya Samaj temple in Bichpuri to evade legal consequences. The marriage was registered two days later, and the accused assured her family that a formal wedding ceremony would take place on November 12. However, just days before the promised wedding, Anil stopped answering her calls and later blacklisted her number.

The Truth Unveiled: Accused Marries Another Woman

While preparing to become a bride, the victim discovered that Anil had gone to Rajasthan with a wedding procession and married another woman. Distraught, she sought justice by approaching the Jagdishpura and Fatehpur Sikri police stations, only to be redirected multiple times. Frustrated, the victim finally approached Police Commissioner J Ravinder Gaud, under whose instructions a case was registered at Loha Mandi police station. The case has sparked outrage in the community, with demands for stringent action against the accused. The police have assured a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure justice for the victim.
