Haryana News: Senior Congress leader Kumari Selja, a key Dalit figure in the party, has publicly dismissed Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's offer to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as tensions simmer ahead of the Haryana elections. Selja, 61, firmly stated that her loyalty to the Congress is unwavering, saying, “Congress runs in my blood. Just as my father was wrapped in the party's flag, I too will depart in the same way.”

At a media event, Selja downplayed rumors of internal strife within the Congress, clarifying that while there are discussions, they are part of the party's normal functioning. “There are always internal discussions that aren't meant for public disclosure. The party is moving forward, and these are routine matters in decision-making,” she emphasized.

Seljia sticks with Congress

Commenting on candidate selection for the upcoming Haryana elections, Selja highlighted that it’s ultimately the party’s decision, adding, “Anyone can make a claim. My statements may have caused concern for some, but that's the nature of politics.”

Khattar, the former chief minister of Haryana, had hinted at the possibility of welcoming Selja into the BJP fold, saying that the party was open to discussions. “There is our Dalit sister... sitting at home. We are ready with an offer, and if she comes, we are ready to induct her,” he said. Selja had previously expressed her desire to contest the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, but she was not fielded by the Congress leadership. Despite these developments, she reaffirmed her dedication to the party.
