Jharkhand: UP CM Yogi Adityanath links mahagathbandhan to Naxalism, calls for absolute BJP majority in polls
Jharkhand News: The BJP has strategically made “infiltration” a key issue in its campaign, using it as a rallying cry to garner votes against the ruling coalition.
Jharkhand News: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a sharp dig at Jharkhand’s ruling Mahagathbandhan alliance during a fiery election rally in Dhanbad. Accusing the coalition of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of making Jharkhand a “den of Naxals,” Adityanath appealed to voters to reject their leadership. His comments came a day after 43 of the 81 assembly constituencies concluded voting in the first phase of the elections.
Yogi Adityanath’s Attack on Mahagathbandhan
“On one hand, they are looting Jharkhand, and on the other, this corrupt government is promoting leftists to turn the state into a den of Naxals,” Adityanath said, addressing a charged crowd. Asserting that the BJP would secure an absolute majority, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister highlighted favorable trends from the initial phase of voting. “Jharkhand has decided to oust the Congress, JMM, and RJD,” he declared.
Accusations of Historical Opposition to Jharkhand’s Formation
Adityanath criticized the Congress and RJD for allegedly opposing Jharkhand’s creation in 2000 when it was carved out of Bihar. “When Jharkhand was being developed, I was a Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur. They (Congress and RJD) were opposing Jharkhand. Now, along with the JMM, they are trying to mislead the people,” he stated, calling on voters to reject their leadership in favor of the BJP’s vision.
“Infiltration” Becomes a Central Poll Theme
In a pointed remark, Adityanath accused the Mahagathbandhan of enabling “infiltration” by refugees from Bangladesh and the Rohingya community from Myanmar. “They are letting Bangladeshis and Rohingyas indulge in ‘land jihad’,” he alleged, further claiming that the Congress, RJD, and JMM were prioritizing their self-interests over Jharkhand’s development. The BJP has strategically made “infiltration” a key issue in its campaign, using it as a rallying cry to garner votes against the ruling coalition.
