Andhra Pradesh News: A tragic gas leak in a pharmaceutical laboratory in Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalli district has left one worker dead and eight others hospitalized. The incident occurred at the Tagoor Laboratories in Parawada on Tuesday afternoon when a deadly mixture of hydrochloric acid and chlorine leaked from the facility, affecting at least 11 workers who were present at the site.

The Gas Leak Incident and Its Aftermath

The fire department confirmed that the gas leak led to serious health complications for the workers. At least 11 employees of the lab began experiencing symptoms of illness shortly after the leak. The affected individuals were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. However, despite efforts to save him, one worker tragically passed away due to the severe inhalation of toxic gases while undergoing medical care. The remaining workers were treated at various hospitals, with their conditions currently being monitored.

District Fire Officer P. Nageswara Rao assured the public that the laboratory compound was no longer at risk following the incident. Authorities confirmed that all necessary precautions had been taken to prevent further exposure to the hazardous gases.

Government Response and Compensation Requests

The incident has drawn significant attention from local political figures, including Andhra Pradesh's former Chief Minister and current Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader, Jagan Mohan Reddy. Expressing deep concern over the incident, Reddy urged the state government to provide adequate compensation to the family of the deceased worker. He also emphasized the need for continued medical support for those still hospitalized due to the exposure.

"We urge the government to ensure that proper compensation is provided to the kin of the deceased. Additionally, it is crucial that those who are hospitalized receive the best possible care," Reddy stated in a public address.

As investigations into the cause of the gas leak continue, local authorities have vowed to implement stricter safety measures at industrial facilities across the region to prevent such incidents from occurring again. Meanwhile, the families of the affected workers are hoping for swift justice and proper compensation for their losses.
