December 2024, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to discuss the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan is set to host. During this meeting, Prime Minister Sharif assured the PCB of his complete support and emphasized the importance of national pride in handling the tournament's arrangements. He stated that the PCB's stance reflects the sentiments of all Pakistanis and that the country's self-respect should be upheld in all decisions.

International Cricket Council

The Champions Trophy 2025 has been a subject of discussion due to India's decision not to play its matches in Pakistan, citing security concerns. As a result, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed to a hybrid model, allowing India to play its matches in Dubai while the rest of the tournament takes place in Pakistan. This arrangement aims to accommodate both teams while ensuring the tournament proceeds smoothly.

International standards

Prime Minister Sharif's support underscores the significance of the Champions Trophy for Pakistan, marking the country's first time hosting a major ICC event since the 1996 Cricket World Cup. The PCB, under Naqvi's leadership, has been actively preparing for the tournament, with plans to upgrade key stadiums and ensure that all logistical and operational aspects meet international standards. The Pakistani government and cricket board are committed to delivering a successful Champions Trophy, with the entire nation standing behind the team as they prepare to defend their title against top international competitors, including India.
