Sports News: In a lighthearted yet unusual moment on Day 3 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was hilariously caught assisting Bangladesh in setting their field while batting. As Pant and fellow batter Shubman Gill resumed India’s innings at 81/3, a stump mic caught Pant instructing Bangladesh on field placements. Pant was heard saying, “one fielder here,” gesturing toward mid-wicket, and surprisingly, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto followed Pant’s suggestion.

A cautious start turns explosive

Pant resumed his innings on 12* and initially played cautiously. At the other end, Shubman Gill unleashed his strokes, hitting back-to-back sixes off Mehidy Hasan Miraz to reach his half-century. Pant, gradually finding his rhythm, hit occasional boundaries and was on 36 at the drinks break.

100-Run Partnership Puts Bangladesh Under Pressure

Pant and Gill continued to dominate, bringing up a vital 100-run partnership. Pant, making his return to Test cricket after a 20-month hiatus, reached his half-century in what was his second consecutive fifty against Bangladesh. The duo launched a fierce attack on Bangladesh's bowlers, extending their partnership and leaving Bangladesh reeling. Pant survived a chance on 71 when he was dropped by Shanto off Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling. By lunch, Pant (86*) and Gill (82*) had steered India to a commanding 205/3, extending the lead to 432 runs.
