BCCI shares positive update on Mohammed Shami's recovery post-surgery

There is good news for the fans of Team India's star bowler, Mohammed Shami. This player is recovering rapidly after surgery. BCCI told what will be their next step.

The last match of the Test series between India and England is to be held in Dharamsala on March 7. For this, BCCI released the squad. Along with this, the board has also given an update regarding star bowler Mohammed Shami. BCCI said that Shami is recovering rapidly after undergoing heel surgery recently. He will soon start rehab at NCA to return to the field. The board has not revealed whether Shami will play in the T20 World Cup or not. 

BCCI said in its statement, 'Mohammed Shami was suffering from a right heel problem. He underwent successful surgery on February 26, 2024. He is recovering well and will soon go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to start his rehab process.

Mohammed Shami shared the information about the surgery on his social media platform 'X' a few days ago. While sharing some of his photos, he wrote, 'I have just had a successful operation on my Achilles tendon heel. It will take some time to recover, but I am eager to get back on my feet. 

Out of action since ODI World Cup 2023

Mohammed Shami has been away from the field since the 2023 ODI World Cup. On the advice of experts, Shami had earlier taken injections to become fit, but when he did not feel comfortable, he finally had to undergo surgery. 

Big-blow for Gujarat Titans

Shami will not play in the IPL 2024 due to ankle surgery. This will be a big blow for the Gujarat Titans. In IPL 2023, Shami took a total of 28 wickets in 17 matches. 

Now he may be out of the T20 World Cup as well!

It is believed that Shami will take time to get fit. In such a situation, he will not be able to be a part of the T20 World Cup to be held in June.
