AAI finalizes airspace design, flight procedures for Navi Mumbai, Noida international airports
AAI has completed the airspace design and flight procedures for Navi Mumbai and Noida (Jewar) International Airports, ensuring efficient and safe air traffic management. This development enhances operational readiness for both upcoming airports.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been actively involved in the development of airspace design and flight procedures for both Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Noida International Airport (NIA), also known as Jewar Airport.
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA)
Flight Validation Test: On December 29, 2024, NMIA conducted its first commercial flight validation test. An IndiGo Airlines A320 aircraft successfully landed on Runway 08/26, marking a significant milestone towards the airport's operational readiness. This exercise included technical assessments and validated the synchronized functioning of Instrument Approach Procedures. The data collected will be submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the issuance of the aerodrome license, essential for commencing operations. Previous Milestones: Prior to this, on October 11, 2024, an Indian Air Force C-295 aircraft successfully landed at NMIA, representing a significant step in the airport's development.
Noida International Airport (NIA)
Flight Validation Test: On December 9, 2024, NIA conducted its first flight validation test using an IndiGo Airbus A320. The aircraft performed multiple maneuvers, including landing and takeoff, to assess runway performance, airspace coordination, communication protocols, and emergency response readiness. This successful trial is a crucial step towards obtaining the aerodrome license from the DGCA, with commercial operations expected to commence by April 2025.
Agreements with AAI:
In March 2022, NIA signed an agreement with AAI for the provision of Communication Navigation Surveillance Systems (CNS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) facilities and services. As the Air Navigation Services Provider (ANSP), AAI is responsible for planning, procuring, installing, and commissioning CNS/ATM equipment and providing air traffic services at NIA.These developments underscore AAI's commitment to establishing robust airspace designs and flight procedures, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of both Navi Mumbai and Noida International Airports.
