Maharashtra: The cracks in the Opposition’s INDIA bloc have widened after the Aam Aadmi Party’s crushing defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. While Congress and AAP continue to blame each other, Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna has taken a direct dig at their disunity, questioning the very purpose of forming alliances.

Sena blames Congress-AAP rift for BJP’s win

In a fiery editorial, Saamna stated that the bitter rivalry between AAP and Congress handed BJP a clean victory. "If this continues, why even form alliances? Just keep fighting among yourselves," the editorial read. The Shiv Sena (UBT) joined other Opposition leaders in criticizing the Congress for eating into AAP’s non-BJP vote share, ultimately aiding the ruling party.

Omar Abdullah’s jibe Adds fuel to the fire

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was the first to highlight the internal strife, sarcastically commenting, "Aur lado apas mein (keep fighting among yourselves)." His remark reflected growing frustration within the INDIA bloc as leaders blamed Congress for AAP's downfall in Delhi.

Congress defends, AAP remains silent

While senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav slammed the Congress's "bad attitude,"the party defended itself, stating that it was AAP that refused an alliance. Congress leaders even privately expressed satisfaction over AAP’s defeat, further deepening the rift.

Will Congress repeat it's Delhi mistake?

The discord isn't limited to Delhi. In West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress is concerned that Congress may once again divide the Opposition vote, making it easier for the BJP to gain ground. However, Banerjee has reportedly assured her party that TMC alone is strong enough to take on the BJP.

With major allies now at each other's throats, the future of the INDIA alliance looks uncertain. If the infighting continues, BJP's dominance might only strengthen in upcoming state elections.
