Delhi: The political landscape of Delhi has shifted dramatically with the BJP's resounding victory in the 2025 Assembly elections. With 48 out of 70 seats, the party has ended AAP's decade-long rule. Now, all eyes are on the saffron camp’s pick for the Chief Minister’s post. Leading the race is Parvesh Verma, the leader who dethroned Arvind Kejriwal. However, other senior leaders like Ashish Sood and Pawan Sharma are also strong contenders.

The giant slayer and frontrunner

Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, has emerged as a political heavyweight after his stunning victory over Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. His strong BJP lineage and grassroots connect make him a natural choice for the top post.

The experienced administrator

Another potential candidate is Ashish Sood, who secured a landslide win from Janakpuri. With his experience in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and his role as BJP’s in-charge for Goa and J&K, he is seen as a leader with strong governance credentials.

The dark Horse?

Pawan Sharma, the BJP’s Uttam Nagar candidate, has also gained prominence after securing over 1 lakh votes. Currently co-in-charge of BJP Assam, his organizational skills and electoral performance make him a strong contender for the CM’s chair.

BJP’s next move

With multiple strong candidates in the fray, the BJP is expected to deliberate carefully before announcing its chief ministerial pick. The decision will shape Delhi’s political trajectory and the party’s future in the capital.

Who will wear the crown? The suspense continues.
