France: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a high-stakes diplomatic tour, starting with a visit to France for the AI Action Summit and key bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron. His visit will also include discussions on defense, trade, nuclear cooperation, and a tribute to Indian soldiers in Marseille. Following this, he will travel to the US to meet President Donald Trump in their first official engagement since Trump’s re-election.  

PM Modi’s strategic France visit

India Strengthens Its Global Tech Influence  
PM Modi will co-chair the AI Action Summit in Paris alongside President Macron, a pivotal event focused on responsible AI development and global cooperation. This summit follows previous editions held in the UK (2023) and South Korea (2024), highlighting India’s growing role in shaping AI ethics and innovation.  

Strengthening Indo-French relation

Beyond AI, PM Modi and President Macron will hold crucial discussions at the India-France CEOs Forum, covering trade, technology, and defense partnerships. The leaders will also visit the ITER nuclear fusion project at Cadarache, a groundbreaking initiative in clean energy, where India is a key partner.  

 A Tribute in Marseille  

In a symbolic gesture, PM Modi and Macron will visit the *Mazargues War Cemetery* to pay tribute to Indian soldiers who fought in World War I. The leaders will also inaugurate the 'Consulate general of India in Marseille', further strengthening diplomatic ties.

After concluding his France visit, PM Modi will fly to Washington for a crucial two-day visit at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This marks his first official engagement with Trump since his second-term inauguration, setting the stage for discussions on global security, trade, and Indo-Pacific strategies.

India and France have shared a robust strategic alliance since 1998, covering defense, nuclear cooperation, space, maritime security, and cyber advancements. The visit is expected to reinforce this partnership, particularly in emerging tech and security collaborations.
