Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025: Waqf Amendment Bill-2025 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday and the ruling and opposition MPs held a 12-hour long discussion on this bill. When the discussion ended, it was midnight. The government won the division of votes that followed. In the division of votes around 2 o'clock in the night, 288 votes were cast in favor of this bill and 232 against it. In this way, this bill was passed from the lower house. Now this amendment bill will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha for passage. The government does not have the required majority to get this bill passed in the Rajya Sabha. The government may have to work harder in the upper house to get it passed. However, sources say that here too the BJP is in a strong position with its allies. With the support of other parties, it can get this bill passed.

Waqf Bill Passes Lok Sabha Test

After the bill was passed, LJP Ram Vilas President Chirag Paswan said in the Parliament premises that if some amendments are included in it for the welfare of the Muslim community, then the opposition should also cooperate in it. When this bill will bring transparency in the functioning of the Waqf Board, then what is the problem of the opposition in it? This bill has been brought by PM Modi and the NDA, that is why there is opposition. All the opposition MPs have given similar statements. They have not talked about facts. These leaders are questioning my secularism. Chirag said, 'They are supporting those who are responsible for the poor condition of Muslims according to the Sachar Committee. Everything will be clear in the Bihar elections.'

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra said, 'The difference in the division of votes was only 50 votes. You can understand how much this bill is against the mandate of the people. The government has managed to pass this bill with great difficulty. This is a black day for the secular democracy of India. This bill is against the basic rights of the people and is unjust. This amendment bill is going to have a very deep impact on the Muslim community.'
