Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transparent police recruitment and the expansion of forensic science infrastructure during the national conference on forensic science and cybersecurity. The event coincided with the observance of Constitution Day on November 26.

Honoring Constitution Day

Speaking on the occasion, CM Yogi remarked, "Today marks Constitution Day. It took nearly three years to draft the Constitution, with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar as its chief architect. For good governance, maintaining law and order is essential. Our goal is to ensure timely justice for victims, prevent wrongful convictions, and uphold equal access to justice for all citizens."

He lauded recent reforms inspired by the Prime Minister, highlighting the implementation of three new criminal laws: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. These laws, effective from July 1, aim to modernize the justice system while ensuring evidence-based convictions.

Transparent Recruitment and Infrastructure Expansion

The Chief Minister emphasized transformative changes in law enforcement. "Before 2017, Uttar Pradesh faced significant challenges in maintaining law and order. Our government prioritized eliminating hooliganism and addressing long-standing vacancies in the police force. Over 154,000 police personnel have been recruited transparently, and we recently initiated the hiring of 7,200 more officers," he said.

He also underlined advancements in forensic capabilities. "Earlier, forensic labs existed in only four locations. Now, we’ve established state-of-the-art forensic labs at the zonal level, with plans to expand to the range level. Additionally, 1,775 police stations are equipped with cyber helplines, and the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences has been set up to enhance investigations," CM Yogi added.
