Terrorism risk: US warns qgainst travel to India-Pakistan border, key areas in Pakistan
People must reconsider their plans to travel to Pakistan because of the terrorist threats and active military conflicts according to the US travel advisory.

A US government travel warning exists for Pakistan because Americans should avoid visiting due to terrorism danger and risk of armed conflict. Americans now need to stay away from the India-Pakistan border area and the Line of Control (LoC) along with Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in Pakistan according to a US State Department advisory issued on Friday because of safety risks. According to the advisory people should delay their travel to Pakistan due to terrorism activities along with military conflicts.

The travel warning requests Americans not to travel to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the previous Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), because of terrorism. It also warns against traveling to the immediate area of the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control because of terrorism and the likelihood of armed conflict.
Violent extremist networks continue to plan attacks in Pakistan
Terrorist attacks are commonplace in Balochistan province and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, including the former FATA. Large-scale terrorist attacks have caused many fatalities, and small-scale attacks are conflict.Terrorism and continued violence by extremist forces have resulted in indiscriminate strikes against civilians as well as domestic military and police targets. Terrorists can attack with little or no notice and target transportation nodes, markets, shopping centers, military bases, airports, universities, tourist spots, schools, hospitals, houses of worship, and government offices. Terrorists have attacked U.S. diplomats and diplomatic sites in the past, the warning stated.It added Pakistan'ss security situation continues to be in a state of flux, occasionally shifting with or without warning. There are more security assets and infrastructure in the urban centers, notably Islamabad, and security forces within them could more easily be in a position to react to an emergency than in other parts of the country, it stated.

Militant groups are present in the area. India and Pakistan have a high military presence on either side of the border. Travelers are cautioned to check the status of the border crossing before initiating travel. A visa to India is necessary to enter India, and no visa facilities are offered at the border.
