Telangana Tunnel Collapse: 8 workers are trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel in Telangana. A rescue operation has been ongoing for the past five days to bring them out. A total of 11 teams from the state and the country are working together on this mission. However, the rising water level is increasing the difficulties.
High-powered pumps are being used to remove the water accumulated inside the tunnel, but the conditions are reported to be extremely severe. To accelerate the rescue operation, alternative rescue strategies, including drilling from different angles, are being implemented.
Political Controversy
However, he emphasized that this is not the time for political debates but rather for finding a way to rescue the eight trapped individuals. Meanwhile, the state’s Chief Minister has indicated that the chances of survival for the trapped workers are very low.
The rescue teams, which started clearing the locomotives track inside the tunnel with the aim of using it to transport equipment for further rescue operations, cleared atleast two kilometer of the track and are two more kilometers away from the spot where a portion of tunnel is collapsed .
The increasing water flow inside the tunnel, silt accumulation, and heavy debris are creating major obstacles for the rescue team.
