Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal recently conducted a surprise inspection of the Pankha Road area in Janakpuri, West Delhi, highlighting the dire conditions caused by accumulating garbage. During her visit, Maliwal expressed grave concern about the overflowing trash that has taken over local roads, creating serious challenges for residents' daily lives.

The unchecked waste buildup along the streets has become a source of various problems for Janakpuri’s residents. Garbage spilling onto roads has worsened the sanitation situation, polluted the air, and led to prolonged traffic jams. “Thousands of people are being forced to live amidst such filth. Trash has spilled onto the streets, making it difficult to breathe,” Maliwal remarked, visibly disturbed by the neglect of basic civic services in the area.

Criticism of Local Authorities and Call for Immediate Action

Turning her attention to city leaders, Maliwal directed her frustration toward Delhi’s local administration, urging them to address the crisis. She lamented that even sacred cows, regarded highly in Indian culture, were left to scavenge in garbage-strewn streets. “Those in power who liken themselves to Lord Krishna should take a look at the actual state of their administration, where even cows are left eating trash off the streets,” she said in a pointed statement.

Maliwal demanded swift action to clear the accumulated waste, warning that residents may be driven to drastic measures if the situation remains unaddressed. She even hinted at the possibility of locals dumping garbage in front of officials’ residences as a form of protest. Her visit underscores the immediate need for an effective waste management strategy to ensure public health and improve living conditions for Delhi’s residents.
