Sonipat-Delhi metro link: 26.5km long metro line to benefit 50k commuters

Delhi: Delhi Metro, in collaboration with the Haryana government, is extending the metro line to Sonipat. The new corridor will have 21 stations and is expected to be completed by 2028

Delhi: The proposed 26.5-kilometer metro link between Delhi and Sonipat is set to significantly enhance connectivity and benefit approximately 50,000 daily commuters. This initiative aims to extend the Delhi Metro's reach from the current terminus at Rithala to Kundli in Sonipat, Haryana.

Project Overview

Route Extension: The metro line will stretch from Rithala in Delhi to Kundli in Sonipat, covering key areas such as Rohini, Bawana, and Narela. This extension will integrate seamlessly with the existing Delhi Metro network, facilitating direct travel between Sonipat and various parts of Delhi.

Stations: The corridor will feature 22 elevated stations, strategically located to serve densely populated and industrial regions. Notable stations include Rohini Sector 25, Bawana Industrial Area, Narela, and Kundli.

Construction Timeline and Cost: The project is estimated to cost ₹6,231 crore. Upon receiving approval from the central government, the construction is projected to be completed within four years. The Delhi government will fund a portion of the project, with additional financial support from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and loans covering the remaining expenses.
