Karnataka: A Karnataka DSP was arrested and suspended after a viral video exposed his alleged sexual harassment of a complainant.
Karnataka: A shocking incident has emerged in the Madhugiri region of Karnataka, where a Deputy Superintendent of Police was arrested and suspended. A video clip showing the officer sexually harassing a woman has gone viral on social media. The accused officer, according to sources, is 58 years old and was working in the same region at the time of the incident.
Incident details emerge
The alleged misconduct occurred on Thursday when the woman approached Ramachandrappa's office in Tumakuru to file a complaint about a land dispute. According to the woman's claims, the officer took her to a room under the pretense of discussing the issue and then misbehaved with her, including inappropriate physical contact.
The act was captured by a person outside the office window. Social media went viral within a very short period, with people condemning the officer on all levels and demanding something to be done against him.

Police act immediately
Aggrieved by the allegations, police authorities acted fast. "This is a serious matter, and we will not tolerate any form of harassment or violence against women," a senior police officer said. The DSP has been arrested and suspended from duty.
A case has been registered against the accused in sections 68 (sexual intercourse by a person in authority), 75 (sexual harassment), and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. With this, it is ensured that the investigation led by an officer of the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police goes on with much more impartiality and transparency.
