Sleeping pills and slit throat: Did wife and mother-in-law plot to kill husband?

karnataka: A 37-year-old real estate entrepreneur was allegedly murdered by his wife and mother-in-law in Bengaluru last week, police said. As per the report, he was killed on suspicion of extramarital relations and business dealings. The woman and her mother are arrested. The police say the crime came to light after some individuals stumbled upon the dead body of a man, whose name was revealed to be Loknath Singh, in a deserted area near an old vehicle in Chikkabanavara on Saturday.

Loknath left his wife at her parents' residence

Police added that Loknath was in a relationship with the woman for two years, following which the couple got their marriage registered in Kunigal in December. But because of the age gap between the two, her family members were against this relationship, but both sides were unaware of this marriage. Loknath left his wife at her parents' residence soon after the marriage. Two weeks ago, the woman's family members got to know about her marriage.

Slit in a secluded location with a knife

"On Saturday at 5.30 pm, we were called on 112, in which we received information about a body," said Bengaluru North Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saidul Adavath. We have taken his wife and mother-in-law into custody for murdering the youth. Further investigation is in progress. Initial investigation into the crime showed that the accused initially administered sleeping pills to the man so that he became unconscious, police added. They then took her to a secluded area and slit her throat with a knife and escaped, police added. The police have indicated that the motive for the killing is illegal relations and business interactions.

Loknath was married for the second time

Police added that Loknath had been dating the woman for two years, during which the couple got married at Kunigal in December. But the couple's relationship became a problem as there was an age difference between them, so her family objected to the marriage, but none of them were aware of the marriage. Immediately after the wedding, Loknath left his wife at her parents' home. The family of the woman learned about the marriage just two weeks ago.

Loknath threatened in-laws

Apart from this, it was during this time that Loknath's wife and in-laws learnt about his second marriage and illegal business transactions, said the police. The police reported that things took a bad turn when Loknath began threatening his in-laws and warned them of severe punishment, after which his wife and her mother decided to kill him.
