Gujarat: A horrifying case of honor killing has emerged from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, where two brothers allegedly stabbed a man to death over his long-term relationship with their mother. The crime, which unfolded in full public view, has sent shockwaves through the community, as the accused reportedly flung the victim’s intestines in front of stunned onlookers.

Victim had been in a relationship with accused’s mother for 15 years

The deceased, identified as 45-year-old Ratanji Thakor, had been in a relationship with the mother of the accused, Sanjay Thakor (27) and Jayesh Thakor (23), for over 15 years. According to the FIR filed by Ratanji’s son, Ajay, the brothers harbored deep resentment against their mother’s partner, believing the affair dishonored their late father’s memory and brought shame upon their family.

The tension between the accused and the victim had escalated over time. “They repeatedly warned the man to stay away from their mother and even sought intervention from community elders. However, efforts to resolve the issue peacefully failed,” said Investigating Officer (IO) Unnati Patel.

Brutal attack during house construction

On Sunday, the situation took a violent turn when Sanjay and Jayesh, armed with a knife and a rod, launched a deadly assault on Ratanji Thakor and his associate, Jikuji Parmar, while they were working on a construction site in the village.

According to the FIR, the brothers viciously stabbed Ratanji, ultimately disemboweling him in a public act of brutality. Shocked laborers and passersby watched in horror as the accused brandished their blood-soaked weapons to keep people at bay before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Arrested using mobile tracking

After committing the gruesome murder, the brothers attempted to evade law enforcement, but police tracked their mobile phone locations and arrested them later that day. Both accused have been booked under charges of murder and abetment, and further investigations are underway.

The horrifying crime has left the local community shaken, reigniting conversations about honor killings and vigilante justice in India.
