Delhi-NCR: A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) early this morning at 5:36 AM. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the epicenter was near Dhaula Kuan, at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers. Residents across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad experienced strong tremors, prompting many to evacuate high-rise buildings. At the New Delhi Railway Station, passengers described feeling the ground shake, with some mistaking the tremors for structural issues.

Damage or injuries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the situation, urging citizens to remain calm and follow safety precautions. He emphasized that authorities are monitoring for potential aftershocks. The intensity of the tremors, despite the moderate magnitude, is attributed to the earthquake's shallow depth and proximity to densely populated areas. These factors can amplify the perceived strength of the shaking. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have advised residents to stay alert for any aftershocks.
