SEBI Cheif: Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Panday appointed as new cheif of SEBI

SEBI: Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Panday as the next chairman of capital market regulator securities and Exchange board of India .

The Government selected Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Panday to become the next head of SEBI or securities and exchange board of India. Tuhin Kanta Panday received his appointment from the government to lead the capital market regulator known as securities and Exchange board of India as its new chairman. Pandey obtained Sebi chief authority through official order that grants him three years of service as the head.

 Pandey's appointment as SEBI

The three-year term of SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch expires on Friday February 28th. The Chief position of Capital Market Regulation fell to her when she started the role on March 2, 2022. The selection of Pandey as Sebi chief represents the second time a bureaucrat has been chosen to lead the regulatory institution since India named Sanjay Malhotra to become RBI Governor starting in December 2024.

Financial sector regulatory

The government demonstrates trust in bureaucratic management of the critical Sebi Chairman position of selecting central government recommendations from the Financial Sector Regulatory Appointment Search Committee (FSRASC).

From the beginning of his career Tuhin Pandey gained experience in multiple essential roles at work. His professional appointments include DIPAM Secretary and DPI Secretary as well as time spent at the Department of Personnel and Training and additional experience at the Department of Personnel and Training. Additionally he conducted work duties at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Regional Office through his positions.
