Telangana: In a shocking crime, Keerthi Teja, 28, stabbed his grandfather, VC Janardhan Rao, Chairman of the Rs. 460-crore Veljan Group, to death over a family business dispute. He also attacked his mother before fleeing the scene.

Family feud turns fatal

On Thursday night, Teja and his mother visited Rao’s Hyderabad home, where an argument broke out over the company’s directorship. Rao had appointed his eldest grandson Srikrishna as director, leading to Teja’s outrage.

Brutal attack

In a fit of rage, Teja pulled out a knife he had brought and stabbed Rao multiple times reports claim over 70 times. When his mother tried to intervene, he stabbed her too, leaving her critically injured with four wounds. After committing the crime, Teja allegedly threatened the security guard who witnessed the incident and fled. He was later arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

Drugs and revenge

While the police continue their probe, reports suggest Teja might have been under the influence of drugs. His grievances over being neglected since childhood may have also fueled the attack. VC Janardhan Rao, a respected industrialist, had made significant donations to the Government General Hospital in Eluru and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, leaving behind a legacy now overshadowed by this tragedy.

As investigations continue, Hyderabad remains shaken by this gruesome crime within one of its most prominent business families.
