Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi rally support in Kerala’s Wayanad after to nomination
The Wayanad seat was vacated by the LoP Rahul Gandhi who retained the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha Constituency. For the upcoming bypolls, Priyanka Gandhi is pitted against BJP candidate Navya Haridas and Left Democratic Front's (LDF) candidate Sathyan Mokeri.
In a significant political event, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra conducted a vibrant roadshow in Kalpetta, Kerala, as she prepares to file her nomination for the upcoming by-polls in the Wayanad Assembly constituency. The roadshow witnessed a massive turnout of party leaders and supporters, showcasing robust backing for the All India Congress Committee’s general secretary, who is making her electoral debut.
A Unified Front
Joining Priyanka at the roadshow was her brother, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The siblings engaged with the enthusiastic crowd, waving to supporters and party workers gathered at the venue. The event also attracted notable leaders, including Telangana Chief Minister K. Revanth Reddy, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, all demonstrating solidarity during this crucial campaign.
A heartwarming moment was captured when Priyanka shared a candid interaction with a young girl, emphasizing her connection with the electorate.
Official Nomination and Upcoming Challenges
Before the roadshow, Priyanka signed her nomination papers at a local resort in the presence of key Congress figures, including Sonia Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Following this, Priyanka is scheduled to address a public meeting at Gudalai, near the KWA Office in Kalpetta.
The Wayanad seat was previously held by Rahul Gandhi, who opted to retain his position in the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency. In the forthcoming by-polls, Priyanka faces challenges from BJP candidate Navya Haridas and Left Democratic Front's (LDF) candidate Sathyan Mokeri. Notably, Haridas is a seasoned two-time councillor of the Kozhikode Corporation.
If Priyanka secures a victory in Wayanad, she will become the third member of the Gandhi family to serve in Parliament, following her role as a strategist in key constituencies like Amethi and Rae Bareli. She has been a pivotal figure in the party since her appointment as AICC General Secretary in 2019 and later assumed full responsibility for Uttar Pradesh.
The Wayanad by-poll is set to take place on November 13, marking a crucial moment for the Congress party in the region.
