New Delhi: In a significant political development, Prashant Kishor, the renowned political strategist-turned-activist, unveiled his new political party, the Jan Suraaj Party, in Patna on Wednesday. The launch event attracted several notable figures and was highlighted by Kishor’s impassioned speech, which urged the Bihari community to stand united against the discrimination faced by their fellow citizens across India.

A rallying cry for unity

Kishor's call to action resonated throughout the event as he urged attendees to chant "Jai Bihar" loudly enough to echo in Delhi, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and beyond—areas where Biharis have faced mistreatment and violence. “You need to raise 'Jai Bihar' so loud that no one ever uses 'Bihari' as an insult. Your voice must reach Delhi, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and every place where Bihari children have been mistreated,” Kishor emphasized, drawing attention to recent harassment incidents in Bengal involving Bihari students.

Jan Suraaj: A movement for political change

The Jan Suraaj initiative began as a campaign to fill the political void in Bihar, aiming to combat years of political disenfranchisement. Kishor stressed the necessity of offering a new political alternative that breaks the cycle of fear-based voting prevalent under the leadership of Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar.

Kishor didn’t shy away from criticizing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, asserting that he is unfit to lead the state. “Nitish Kumar is neither physically nor mentally in the right condition to govern Bihar,” he stated. He cautioned the BJP that their continued support for Kumar could have serious political repercussions, describing it as a “political compulsion” that may backfire.
