Highest national award of Mauritius
When accepting the distinguished award Modi expressed gratitude to Mauritanian people by saying "Sisters and brothers of Mauritius, I express my heartfelt gratitude for being conferred with the highest national award of Mauritius." The recognition goes beyond my personal achievement since it represents the glory of 1.4 billion Indians.
Modi proclaimed Mauritius as a vital maritime partner
The Prime Minister becomes the first Indian citizen to earn this distinction. The island country invites Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spend two days through an invitation from Navinchandra Ramgoolam his Mauritian counterpart. During his official speech Modi proclaimed Mauritius as a vital maritime partner who serves as an Indian Ocean hub and entrance to Africa. Our bond runs through time since we share both historic and geographic spaces while having similar cultural traits.
