In a deeply saddening incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ajit Singh of the Bihar Police reportedly took his own life on November 1 after being denied leave for the Chhath Puja festival. His lifeless body was found in the barracks of the Traffic Operations Office at Ekta Bhawan, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Central SP Sweety Sahrawat, accompanied by a forensic team, promptly arrived at the scene to launch an investigation. Ajit Singh, originally from Badkagaon village in Bhojpur district, served at the police line in Patna and shared accommodations with his fellow officers. His unexpected death has prompted a thorough inquiry, with law enforcement exploring all possible circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Family’s Heartfelt Plea for Leave

Ajit Singh's father, Vinod Singh, shared that the family had extended an invitation for him to come home for Diwali, which he could not accept due to work commitments. They had hoped he might be able to join them for Chhath Puja, but Ajit had communicated that he could only visit if he received leave approval. Singh had joined the Bihar Police in 2007 as a constable and had recently been promoted just four months prior to this tragic event.

Forensic Examination and Mental Health Considerations

City SP Sweety Sahrawat confirmed that a detailed investigation is in progress. Forensic experts are currently analyzing evidence from the scene, and Singh’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination. When questioned about Singh's mental health, particularly regarding the denial of leave, the City SP assured that every aspect of the case is being meticulously assessed.
