Odisha’s rich culture praised by PM Modi, highlights northeast growth agenda
PM Modi attended the 'Odisha Parba 2024'. Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dharmendra Pradhan were also present. Odisha Parba is a flagship event conducted by Odia Samaj, a trust in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the 'Odisha Parba 2024' in New Delhi on Sunday, lauded Odisha as the "land of saints and scholars." He emphasized the state’s pivotal role in India's cultural richness, saying, "The way Odisha's scholars brought our religious texts to every household has played a crucial role in India’s cultural prosperity."
PM Modi underlined the government’s commitment to Odisha’s development, revealing a threefold increase in budgetary allocation over the past decade. "Eastern India, once considered backward, is now viewed as a growth engine. This year, Odisha’s budget from the central government is 30% higher than last year," he noted. The Prime Minister highlighted accelerated development initiatives in the region, spanning various sectors.
Praises for President Droupadi Murmu
The Prime Minister expressed pride in Odisha’s contribution to national leadership, particularly President Droupadi Murmu, the first tribal woman to hold the position. "Odisha has given strong leadership to the nation. Inspired by President Murmu’s leadership, numerous welfare projects worth crores have been launched for the Adivasi community," PM Modi said.
Northeast as a Growth Engine
Highlighting the government’s vision for the eastern region, PM Modi reiterated that the Northeast, including Odisha, is considered India’s growth engine. "The progress of the Northeast is a priority. As Odisha approaches its centenary in 2036, we are working to ensure it becomes a beacon of development," he added.
PM Modi celebrated significant developments in Odisha’s spiritual heritage, such as the opening of all four doors of the Jagannath Temple and its Ratna Bhandar. He also noted the global recognition of Odisha’s Sun Temple, showcased during the G20 Summit.
Odisha Parba 2024: Preserving Heritage
The event, organized by Odia Samaj, highlights Odisha’s vibrant cultural and political ethos. Running from November 22 to 24, Odisha Parba showcases the state’s rich traditions and heritage through performances and exhibitions.
