Nitesh Rane’s controversial comments on Saif Ali Khan’s intrusion case spark backlash
Maharashtra: Maharashtra BJP MLA Nitesh Rane stirred controversy with remarks questioning Saif Ali Khan’s injury during a robbery at his Mumbai residence. Labeling the actor as "garbage," Rane linked the attack to the growing issue of Bangladeshi immigrants.
Maharashtra: Maharashtra cabinet minister and BJP MLA Nitesh Rane made waves on Thursday with controversial statements regarding the recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Speaking at a Hindu Mahotsav rally in Alandi, Rane questioned the authenticity of the injuries sustained by Khan during a robbery attempt at his Mumbai residence. His remarks have drawn widespread criticism and sparked a heated debate.
I saw when he came out of the hospital, I doubted whether he had been stabbed or he was acting. He was dancing while walking. Whenever any Khan like Shahrukh Khan or Saif Ali Khan gets hurt, everyone starts talking about it," Rane stated.
Rane calls Saif Ali Khan as "garbage"
In an inflammatory statement during his speech, Rane referred to Saif Ali Khan as "garbage" that needed to be taken away. The BJP MLA also criticized the growing presence of Bangladeshi immigrants in Mumbai, alleging their involvement in criminal activities.
"Look at what Bangladeshis are doing in Mumbai. They entered Saif Ali Khan's house. Earlier they used to stand at the crossings of the roads, now they have started entering houses. Maybe he came to take him (Saif) away. It is good, garbage should be taken away," Rane reportedly said, adding fuel to the controversy.
The invasion episode at Saif Ali Khan's place
The incident that was in question took place early on January 16, with a Bangladeshi immigrant by the name Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir allegedly entering Saif Ali Khan's apartment in Bandra and stabbing him multiple times. Khan was allegedly stabbed several times in the face, neck, and chest areas by the burglar. After being injured, the actor was hospitalized.
Political and social aftermath
Criticisms have flooded from all corners in response to Rane's statements, as people have been widely labeling the statements as highly insulting and communal. The debate surrounding the illegal immigration issue, specifically in the case of Mumbai, has resurfaced through his statements and criticisms of the way public personalities express themselves while addressing the general public. As the controversy unravels, the attention continues to be centered on Saif Ali Khan's recovery and the continuing investigation into the intrusion. The police continue their probe into the case to deliver justice.
