Michael Waltz is anticipated to succeed Jake Sullivan as the US National Security Advisor once Donald Trump assumes office as the 47th President of the United States in January. Trump appointed Waltz, a prominent Florida Republican leader, for this crucial role in November. With an extensive background, Waltz has served as a senior member of several key committees including the House Armed Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. His 27 years of service in the US Army and National Guard further bolster his credentials for this pivotal position.

On Thursday, Jaishankar also met with current NSA Jake Sullivan, where they engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding the progress of the India-US strategic partnership. The leaders exchanged insights on current regional and global developments, reinforcing their commitment to strengthening ties.Additionally, Jaishankar held a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, D.C., where they reviewed advancements in their partnership over the past four years.

He noted that cooperation has notably strengthened across various sectors. "Delighted to meet @SecBlinken yesterday evening in Washington D.C. Reviewed the advancement of India-US partnership over the last four years. Agreed that our cooperation has strengthened in many domains," he stated.
