NCP's Jayant Patil denies allegations of meeting Sachin Waze, labels it as 'Conspiracy'
Jayant Patil dismissed these claims, pointing out Waze's lack of credibility due to his incarceration. "The person who made the first allegation has been in jail for 1.5 years, there are serious allegations against him.
New Delhi: In response to allegations made by Sachin Waze, NCP (SCP) leader Jayant Patil has firmly denied ever meeting the dismissed Mumbai Assistant Police Inspector. During a press conference on Saturday, Patil suggested that the accusations against him and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh are part of a conspiracy.
Waze's allegations and evidence submission
Sachin Waze, who is implicated in a Rs 100 crore extortion case, claimed he had provided evidence of bribes taken by Anil Deshmukh to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Waze stated, "Whatever has happened, the proof is there. The money used to go through his (Anil Deshmukh) PA, CBI has the proof and I have also written a letter to Devendra Fadnavis. In the letter that I have written, I have given the name of Jayant Patil as well."
Patil tags allegations as conspiracy
Jayant Patil dismissed these claims, pointing out Waze's lack of credibility due to his incarceration. "The person who made the first allegation has been in jail for 1.5 years, there are serious allegations against him. I don't think the court and the justice system will trust him. I don't know what he has written in the letter. How did he suddenly feel like writing the letter?" Patil questioned, hinting at a plot to defame the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) members.
Opposition reacts
NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule questioned the timing of Waze's allegations, implying ulterior motives. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole termed the situation a "drama" and promised an investigation if the Maha Vikas Aghadi forms the government.
What is Sachin Waze's controversy?
Sachin Waze is not only implicated in the extortion case but is also accused in the 2021 Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren murder case. The CBI had filed a corruption case against Anil Deshmukh, alleging he directed police officials to collect Rs 100 crore monthly from bar owners. Deshmukh, arrested by the ED in a money laundering case, had spent several months in jail. Waze was arrested by the NIA in March 2021 for allegedly planting an explosive-laden vehicle near Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani's house in Mumbai.
