Maharastra News: Mumbai Police unveiled chilling details about the conspiracy to assassinate former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, stating that the planning began three months prior. The accused reportedly visited his residence multiple times, unarmed, before executing the fatal attack. “According to the information received from Mumbai Crime Branch, the entire planning of Baba Siddique's murder was done in Pune,” the police revealed, further noting that they have recorded over 15 statements, including several eyewitnesses present during the incident.

Baba Siddique’s Tragic Death

On October 12, Baba Siddique, a former Congress leader who recently joined the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, was gunned down by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar. The Mumbai Police have arrested four individuals so far, including Haryana’s Gurmail Baljit Singh and Uttar Pradesh’s Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, both identified as the shooters.

Arrests Made and Further Investigations

Among the arrested is Harishkumar Balakram Nisad, who police claim provided financial and logistical support for the assassination. Another accused, Pravin Lonkar, a Pune resident, was allegedly involved in the planning, while two suspects—Shivkumar Gautam and Shubham Lonkar—remain on the run. The investigation revealed that Nisad acted as a middleman, delivering ₹2 lakh to the shooters and coordinating via social media apps like Snapchat and Instagram.

Unraveling the Plot

Mumbai Crime Branch disclosed that the shooters, Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, trained themselves to shoot by watching YouTube videos. The accused meticulously surveyed Baba Siddique’s residence and office 25 days prior to the murder and were provided with a photograph of Siddique to ensure they identified their target correctly.
