5-KM Underground Stretch For Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan Metro
The construction of Thane Metro linking between Thane-Bhiwandi shows good progress while reaching 80% completion. Fadnavis declared that Bhiwandi and Kalyan received approval for an underground metro construction that would replace the original elevated design plans. The decision to make the route underground in this stretch of 5 kilometers was taken to prevent major relocation activities. Fadnavis reported that Metro 9 linking Andheri to the international airport remains 55 percent finished and its operations are projected for December 2026. The metro network expansion project intends to strengthen connectivity throughout the MMR area through better public transportation. The public transport system in Mumbai will undergo a remarkable evolution during the next few years because multiple metro lines are approaching their final stages of completion.
