Greeting the visit of a delegation of Supreme Court judges to Manipur on Saturday, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh enquired when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state. He stated that the Congress party welcomes the six judges who have visited Manipur. Talking to news agency ANI, he said that in the last 22 months, hundreds of lives have been lost, about 60,000 have been displaced and have been residing in shelter homes and relief camps.

 Constitutional system in Manipur

President's rule was declared on February 13, but the question is: Even after Supreme Court itself on August 1, 2023, pronounced that constitutional system in Manipur had been totally destroyed, why did it take 18 months to declare President's rule? It is well that Supreme Court judges have departed, but the larger question is when will the Prime Minister come?" Ramesh queried.

Supreme Court judges

A group of Supreme Court judges, led by Justices BR Gavai, Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, MM Sundresh, KV Vishwanathan, and N Kotishwar, went to a relief camp in Manipur's Churachandpur. The Congress leader also criticized home minister Amit Shah for failing to mention the scenario in Manipur during the debate on his ministry's activities in the Parliament.

 Mizoram Chief Minister

The Congress leader ,There is no explanation to why there was such delay in applying the President's rule. The Home Minister travels to Mizoram, why did he not travel to Manipur? And those things which the Mizoram Chief Minister has spoken after travelling to America have many questions raised."
