Maharashtra: PM Modi to unveil Rs11,200 crore infrastructure projects ahead of assembly polls

Maharashtra News: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various infrastructure projects in Maharashtra, totaling over₹11,200 crore. This significant announcement comes via video conferencing from the Prime Minister's Office, showcasing the government’s commitment to enhancing regional development.

Pune Metro and other key projects

Among the highlighted initiatives is the inauguration of the Pune Metro section connecting the District Court to Swargate, marking the completion of Phase-1 of the Pune Metro Rail Project. The underground segment of this metro line, costing approximately ₹1,810 crore, is a significant milestone for the city’s public transportation system.

In addition, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase-1, which will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,955 crore. This southern extension, spanning 5.46 kilometers and comprising three stations—Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj—will be fully underground, enhancing urban mobility in Pune.

Industrial development and connectivity

The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Bidkin Industrial Area, a transformative project covering 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program, located 20 kilometers south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The project, part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, holds great potential for economic growth in the Marathwada region, with a total approved cost of over ₹6,400 crore.

Furthermore, PM Modi will inaugurate the revamped Solapur Airport, expected to significantly improve connectivity and make the city more accessible to tourists and investors, with an annual capacity of approximately 410,000 passengers. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for the Memorial of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule's First Girls' School at Bhidewada, reinforcing the commitment to education and empowerment.
