Maharashtra News: On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The complaint stems from a speech Gandhi delivered on November 6 in Maharashtra, in which the BJP claims he attempted to sow division between states and falsely accused the party of threatening the Constitution. A BJP delegation, led by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, met with election officials to lodge their protest, urging the commission to take immediate action.

BJP Condemns Gandhi’s “False Allegations” Against BJP and RSS

The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading lies during his speech in a rally ahead of Maharashtra’s elections. Gandhi, according to the BJP, falsely claimed that the BJP and RSS are working to dismantle the Constitution. “Rahul Gandhi tried to lie once again for Maharashtra Elections. He attempted to pit states against each other and waved the Constitution, claiming that the BJP is about to destroy it. This is completely false,” Meghwal stated.

The BJP further criticized Gandhi for his persistent behavior despite previous warnings and notices. The saffron party called for an FIR to be filed against him under Section 353 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), highlighting what it described as a gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and other electoral laws.

Accusations Over Alleged Bias in University Appointments

In his speech, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of appointing unqualified individuals as vice-chancellors in Indian universities based on their RSS membership rather than merit. “If you take out the list of vice-chancellors of India's universities, you won't find any merit. The only criteria for appointment is RSS membership. Whether you know about Science, Geography, or History doesn't matter; if you're from the RSS, you’re in,” Gandhi allegedly claimed.

The BJP's complaint also referred to Gandhi’s assertion that the economic benefits of industries, such as Apple iPhones and Boeing airplanes, were being shifted from Maharashtra to other states at the cost of Maharashtra’s growth. The BJP accused Gandhi of using such allegations to stoke discontent and incite young people in the state, warning that this rhetoric posed a “danger to the unity and integrity of the nation.”

BJP Warns of Dangerous Consequences for National Unity

The BJP condemned Rahul Gandhi’s remarks, labeling them as “falsehoods and lies” aimed at creating division among India’s states. The party emphasized that Gandhi’s comments were designed to create rifts between the citizens of India based on geography, caste, and religion, ultimately seeking to gain electoral advantage in the ongoing Maharashtra assembly elections.
