Rajasthan: The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has hit a top speed of 180 km/h in its recent tests carried out over a 40-km stretch in Rajasthan. Indian Railways announced this milestone on Friday, achieved in the third phase of testing. The tests, overseen by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation, were carried out between Kota and Laban, with the highest speed recorded on January 2 between Kota and Nagda.

Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared a video on the microblogging platform X, showing how the train moves at top speed with absolute smoothness. The clip included a glass of water beside a mobile phone placed on a table inside the train. It showed that not a single droplet of water in the glass had moved at 180 km/h. This was indeed a reflection of the comfort and technological prowess of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train.

Trials ongoing and safety tests continuously conducted

There are planned further tests of the train's speed stability and safety parameters throughout the month of January. Upon the completion of these tests, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will take into account the results and give clearance to run commercially. It ensures complete safety in the use of this train for passengers and reliability in using it for long distance routes.
