The petitioners took immediate action to halt all fundamental rights lawsuits against Adani Green Energy projects situated in northeastern Sri Lanka. The Attorney General ordered this action after Adani Green Energy advised both Board of Investment groups about their terminated wind energy project.

Indian conglomerate disclosed their decision

The Indian conglomerate announced their choice to stop operating their renewable wind energy project in Mannar and Pooneryn. During May 2024 the previous cabinet accepted the project before fundamental rights petitions emerged at that time. The petitions documented proof regarding environmental risks as well as procedural ambiguities linked to the project.

Operations ceased under the leadership of the Sri Lankan government

The Adani Group suspended its operations due to the Sri Lankan government's decisions made by President Anura Kumar Dissanayake which included both an evaluation of the project and a renegotiation of power agreements after the government deemed the original eight-cent price offer too costly thus seeking to lower it to under six cents.

Administration demands

The NPP government decided to halt the project before the nationwide elections took place in September during its presidential campaign period. During late December the new cabinet found it necessary to change the purchase price. during his Tuesday press appearance the government official Nalinda Jayathissa announced the administration desires lower unit prices.
