Punjab News: On Wednesday, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal narrowly escaped an assassination attempt while performing his duty as a ‘sewadar’ outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab. The attack took place as Badal, who was seated in a wheelchair, was targeted by a man identified as Narain Singh Chaura. The assailant fired at Badal, but the bullet missed its target and struck a nearby wall. Despite the close call, Badal emerged unscathed.

He has been linked to multiple militant operations, including his involvement in aiding the escape of notorious terrorists from Burail Jail. Attack Foiled by Quick Action of Nearby Sewadar

The attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal was thwarted when a nearby sewadar quickly intervened. As Chaura attempted to shoot Badal, the sewadar managed to push Chaura’s hand upwards, causing the bullet to miss its target. The swift reaction by the sewadar saved Badal’s life, preventing a potential tragedy.

Chaura, who hails from the Dera Baba Nanak area, has been a figure of interest for law enforcement due to his militant background. He has been accused of masterminding the infamous Burail jailbreak, where he aided Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorists Jagtar Singh Hawara and Paramjit Singh Bheora in their escape. During the jailbreak, Chaura turned off the electricity supply to the prison, facilitating the terrorists’ escape.
