Terrorists Trapped Near Assan Temple
The terrorists had taken refuge near the Assan temple in Jogwan village, Khour. On Tuesday, gunfire erupted again, accompanied by two explosions, as forces pressed their offensive against the remaining terrorists. Tragically, during the operation, a four-year-old army dog named Phantom lost his life after being struck by a bullet while aiding in the mission. To fortify the perimeter and enhance surveillance, the Army deployed four BMP-II infantry combat vehicles and enlisted helicopters to locate the hiding terrorists within the forested area.
Recent Surge in Terror Attacks
The three infiltrating terrorists had crossed the border just the night before, launching an attack on the army convoy around 6:30 AM and targeting the ambulance specifically. Following the attack, they fled towards a nearby forest but were subsequently tracked down and found hiding in a basement. The operation's successful outcome comes amidst a concerning rise in terrorist activity in Jammu and Kashmir, where recent assaults resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and two civilians in Baramulla. In a statement reflecting the ongoing struggle against terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha affirmed, "Every drop of innocent blood spilled in the valley will be avenged."
