New Delhi: An encounter erupted between security forces and terrorists on Thursday in Kog (Mandli), Kathua district. The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu, stated that the operation was launched based on specific intelligence regarding the terrorists' presence. "Contact has been established, and a few rounds have been fired from both sides," the statement noted, adding that the area has been cordoned off to secure the operation. A senior police official confirmed that all injured individuals are now stable. The clashes began late Friday night when security forces were alerted to the movement of terrorists in the Arigam area. Upon arrival, the forces were met with gunfire, leading to an immediate exchange.
Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) VK Birdi elaborated on the Kulgam encounter, stating, “The security forces received information late last night regarding the movement of terrorists in the Arigam area. When they arrived, an exchange of fire ensued, leading to the current encounter.” He emphasized that the operation is ongoing and will require time to conclude, with further details expected once the situation stabilizes.
