Is he losing his mind? Rahul Gandhi takes jab at PM Modi, accuses him of memory loss ahead of Maharashtra polls
Maharashtra News: In his speech, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his call for a nationwide caste census, urging the Modi government to take action on the matter. He criticized Modi for opposing the caste census and predicted that the Prime Minister would soon accuse him of being against it.
Maharashtra News: In a recent rally in Maharashtra’s Amravati, Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that the Prime Minister was beginning to show signs of memory loss, drawing an unlikely parallel with US President Joe Biden. Gandhi, known for his sharp criticism of Modi’s leadership, humorously referred to the Prime Minister’s recent speeches where he seemed to repeat the same statements, claiming that this behavior indicated a potential memory issue.
Rahul Gandhi’s Comparison to Joe Biden
Gandhi, the former Congress president, recalled a moment when US President Joe Biden, 81, made an embarrassing verbal slip-up at an international event. Biden had mistakenly introduced Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Russian President Vladimir Putin. Gandhi highlighted the similarity between this slip-up and Modi’s recent speeches, mocking the Prime Minister for repeatedly echoing statements that had already been made.
"My sister told me that she heard Modi Ji’s speech, and whatever we say, Modi Ji is repeating the same thing. I don’t know, maybe he’s losing his memory. The former President of America used to forget and had to be reminded from behind. The President of Ukraine came, and Biden mistakenly said that Russian President Putin had arrived. He had lost his memory. Similarly, our Prime Minister is losing his memory," Gandhi said, further emphasizing his criticism of Modi’s leadership.
Modi's Misstatements and the Congress Pushback
Gandhi also pointed out the contradictions in Modi’s speeches regarding the Constitution and Congress’s stance on it. The Congress MP claimed that while he has consistently stated that the BJP was undermining the Constitution, Modi has been accusing Congress of the same. Gandhi mocked Modi for backtracking and attempting to shift the blame on Congress after public backlash.
"I have been saying for the last year that the BJP is attacking the Constitution in my speeches. But PM Modi is claiming that Congress is attacking the Constitution," Gandhi said.
Gandhi’s Stand on Caste Census
In his speech, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his call for a nationwide caste census, urging the Modi government to take action on the matter. He criticized Modi for opposing the caste census and predicted that the Prime Minister would soon accuse him of being against it. "I told Modi Ji to do a caste census. The country should know how many Dalits, Adivasis, and OBCs are there. In the next meeting, he will say I am against the caste census," Gandhi added.
The Congress party is gearing up for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, seeking to capitalize on its performance in the Lok Sabha polls. With the elections scheduled for November 20, the Congress is hoping to challenge the dominance of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP, ahead of the elections.
