Karnataka News: In a significant legal development, Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys, along with former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram and 16 other individuals, has been booked under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act. This action was confirmed by police in Bengaluru on Monday, January 27.
Legal Proceedings Initiated
The case was registered at the Sadashiva Nagar police station following directives from the 71st city civil and session court (CCH). According to reports from news agency PTI, the complaint was lodged by a man who claimed he was wrongfully implicated in a honey trap case, resulting in his dismissal from the IISc, where Gopalakrishnan is a member of the Board of Trustees.
Allegations of Caste-Based Abuse
The complainant, identified as Durgappa, belongs to the tribal Bovi community. He alleged that he faced false accusations in 2014 related to the honey trap case and subsequently lost his position at IISc. Durgappa further claimed he endured casteist slurs and threats during this ordeal.
Other Individuals Involved
Among those accused alongside Gopalakrishnan are notable figures such as Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, and Sandya Vishwswaraih, among others. The involvement of such prominent individuals has drawn considerable attention to the case.
