Telangana: There was a shocking incident of the gruesome murder of a 35-year-old wife by her retired Army jawan husband in Hyderabad, Telangana. The accused, Gurumurthy, confessed to the crime against his wife, Puttavenkata Madhavi, after fracturing her limbs and then boiling those pieces of the body in a pressure cooker before putting them away in the nearby lake.

The incident happened in Venkateswara Colony, under the limits of the Meerpet Police Station in Rangareddy district. Police are investigating the case actively but have not been able to recover the remains of the victim so far.

A dispute turns deadly

The authorities said that the girl had gone missing on January 18, when Subamma, her mother, filed a complaint. Madhavi was said to have left the house after a heated argument with her husband on January 16. Meerpet Inspector K. Nagaraju said that during the investigation, the police arrested Gurumurthy, who is now working as a security guard. He allegedly confessed to the crime while he was in a fit of rage during the argument.

Disturbing methods to erase evidence

Gurumurthy is said to have revealed, in a chilling detail, how he dismembered his wife's body in the bathroom and boiled the parts in a pressure cooker to remove any trace of evidence. He separated the bones from the flesh, crushed the bones with a pestle, and boiled them again. According to the police sources, over three days, he packed the remains in a bag and dumped them into a lake. Police and forensic teams, which include a dog squad, have continued their exhaustive search of the lake for Madhavi's remains as of late Wednesday. "Even after Gurumurthy's confession, the case is still under investigation to authenticate the claims made," said LB Nagar Deputy Commissioner of Police.

A family ripped apart

The couple were married for 13 years, and the two children had stayed with them in Venkateswara Colony since the last five years. As of the day of the murder, the kids were said to be at their aunt Gurumurthy's place. Police said that before reporting the case of a missing girl, Gurumurthy told the parents of Madhavi that she is missing.

Investigations are currently under way

Meerpet Station House Officer K. Nagaraju said that at present, it is being dealt with as a missing person case since there was no concrete evidence to prove the murder. Officials are trying to find out the truth and to find the victim's body in order to clear the case.
