Delhi: Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, is set to be sworn in today as Delhi's fourth woman Chief Minister, marking the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) return to power in the national capital after 27 years. The grand oath-taking ceremony is scheduled at Ramlila Maidan, with an expected attendance of around 50,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Ministers from various BJP-ruled states.
Bharatiya Janata Party
Gupta, 50, has a rich political background, having served as the President of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) in the 1990s. She has also held positions such as General Secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi and is a member of the party's national executive committee. In the recent assembly elections, she secured a decisive victory in Shalimar Bagh, defeating AAP candidate Bandana Kumari by over 29,000 votes.
Oath Ceremony
The new cabinet is expected to include six ministers, with names like Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Kumar Indraj, Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, and Pankaj Kumar Singh being considered for key roles. The ceremony will commence at 11 AM, with Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena administering the oath at 12:35 PM.

Gupta expressed her gratitude to the party leadership and emphasized her commitment to the welfare and development of Delhi's citizens. She stated, "I am fully committed to this important opportunity to take Delhi to new heights."
