CM Rekha will table her first budget in the assembly
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will table her first budget in the Assembly at 11 am on Tuesday. Budget session of five days began on Monday with kheer ceremony. Prior to submitting the budget, Chief Minister Gupta and his entire cabinet will take blessings at the historic Hanuman temple in Connaught Place. Following this, she will proceed to the Delhi Secretariat, where the Cabinet will assemble at 9:45 am to sanction the budget.Following the cabinet approval, the Chief Minister will arrive at the Delhi Assembly at 10:30 am, where a photo shoot will be conducted. The assembly session will start at 11 am, where CM Gupta will table the budget and give his budget speech. She will later conduct a press conference at 3 pm to outline the highlights of Delhi's budget.
What to expect?
The budget will be supposed to incorporate main poll promises such as cleaning of the Yamuna river, infrastructural development and upgradation of basic amenities.
What will be spent on the budget?
The AAP government had recently placed before the House a Rs 76,000 crore budget for 2024-25 which had been revised to Rs 77,000 crore. Government sources indicated that the budget, to be placed before the Assembly, is likely to exceed the Rs 80,000 crore mark. Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta has promised that the top priorities will include issues such as women empowerment, reforming Delhi's troubled power and water supply system and solving drainage issues which become worse during monsoon.
Budget will concentrate on taking measures to alleviate air pollution
Besides this, the budget will concentrate on taking measures to alleviate air pollution, cleansing the Yamuna river and making substantial changes to the education system. The government will also make some significant announcements regarding the healthcare sector, while youth employment and improvement of infrastructure facilities for the masses will be the highlight of the budget.
It will be the people's budget
The Chief Minister added that in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP is coming up with Delhi's budget after 27 years. As Lord Ram came back to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, we have come back after 27 years," he had stated, and averred that the 'Developed Delhi' budget would be centered around women's economic empowerment, improved education and health facilities, improved infrastructure, problem of pollution and water logging. He stated that the budget would be a "people's budget" with priority on improvement of basic services and jobs generation.
Budget session starts after kheer ceremony
Prior to the Budget Session on Monday, the Chief Minister arranged a symbolic "kheer ceremony" representative of the sweetness of developed Delhi and promised the public that the budget will consider the requirements of every segment of the society. Lawyers, students, women, members of the Sikh community and auto drivers participated in the function.

The Delhi government has received more than 10,000 people's suggestions on the budget provisions on email and on a WhatsApp number released earlier. The process of consultation was spearheaded by Gupta himself, who sat down with a cross-section of individuals and heard their comments on the budget proposals. According to him, the BJP government in Delhi will work to make the budget realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "developed Delhi."
