Heavy snowfall, freezing rain expected: North India to suffer cold wave as 2025 approaches

New Delhi: North India is all set to welcome the New Year with a biting chill. After heavy rains and snow in the region, the cold wave, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), will severe with December merging into January. The chill will be more active, from the Himalayan peaks to the plains.

Winter's Fury Unleashed

It will look absolutely cold out there. A  huge temperature drop is hanging over the region. The mercury levels are likely to go down by 3-5°C in Northwest India over the next two days. West and Central India is all set for a brisk chill while East India too is all set to follow. Frosty mornings, thick fog, and icy winds will create the perfect wintry scene.

Himachal Pradesh & Beyond: Ready Yourself

Extreme cold wave conditions will prevail over Himachal Pradesh's picture-perfect hills on December 30 and 31. Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan are no behind in bracing themselves for biting winds and bone-chilling mornings between December 29 and January 3. Even Delhi shivers at the aftertaste of record rainfall registered on the wettest day of December in 101 years.

A Misty New Year 

The plains will be veiled with a mystical mist of fog. Ground frost will sparkle in the valleys of Himachal, and chill winds will blow across Punjab and Haryana. There is something about winter's icy beauty that this weather reminds us of winter gatherings around heaters and bonfires.
