In an unusual incident from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, a local man called the police late at night to report the alleged theft of 250 grams of peeled potatoes. Reportedly intoxicated at the time, the man, identified as Vijay Verma, was incensed over the “robbery” and insisted that authorities track down his missing potatoes. The humorous call, captured on video by responding officers, quickly gained traction online, bringing smiles and laughter across social media.

Frustrated Call Leads to Amusing Police Encounter

Verma explained to the police that he had peeled the potatoes earlier in the evening in preparation for cooking. However, after stepping out for a drink, he returned to find his potatoes mysteriously missing. Outraged, he dialed the emergency number, 112, asking police to investigate the “crime.” In the video, Verma adamantly requested the officers to file a case, determined to find out who was behind the peculiar disappearance of his ingredients.

Police Handle Incident with Amusement and Patience

When officers arrived, they asked Verma if he had been drinking, a question he openly answered, asserting that he consumed alcohol with his own earnings. Though clearly amused, the officers listened patiently, even playfully asking about the type of alcohol that led to his unusual complaint. Undeterred, Verma insisted, saying in Hindi, “Mere aloo gayab ho gaye… do dhai sau gram the… kisi ne chori kar liye… yahi jaanch karni hai,” translating to, “My potatoes are missing… about 250 grams… someone has stolen them… this needs to be investigated.”

The video sparked widespread amusement on social media, where users responded with humor. “At least he was honest… he didn’t bother anyone for money,” one commenter joked. Another user suggested a full CID or CBI inquiry, humorously urging authorities to prioritize the “potato theft” for quick resolution.
