New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a significant three-nation tour from November 16 to 21, marking pivotal engagements in Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana. His first stop will be Nigeria, where he will visit from November 16-17 at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in 17 years. The visit underscores the strategic partnership established in 2007, focusing on enhancing economic, energy, and defense collaborations. India’s robust presence in Nigeria is marked by over 200 companies investing more than $27 billion. Modi will review bilateral ties, explore new avenues for cooperation, and address the Indian diaspora.

G20 Summit in Brazil: Advocating India’s Vision

PM Modi will then participate in the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 18-19. India’s active role in shaping the global agenda will take center stage as Modi builds on the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and the Voice of the Global South Summits. As part of the G20 troika with Brazil and South Africa, Modi is expected to present India’s stance on key global issues and foster meaningful dialogue with world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

Strengthening Ties with Guyana and CARICOM Nations

The tour will conclude with a visit to Guyana from November 19-21 at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana since 1968. PM Modi will meet President Ali, address Guyana’s Parliament, and interact with the Indian diaspora. Highlighting India’s commitment to the Caribbean region, Modi will also participate in the second CARICOM-India Summit and engage with leaders of CARICOM member states.

President Ali, who visited India in 2023 as the chief guest at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, was honored with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman. The upcoming discussions aim to deepen India’s engagement with CARICOM and promote economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties.
