Delhi: On Friday, PM Modi attended the event organised in honour of the famed Sufi minstrel and scholar Amir Khusrau, where he extended advance wishes for Ramzan and lauded Sufi traditions for their communication of inclusivity and harmony.
Illustrating deep connections between societies
Modi attended the 25th edition of the jubilee, which celebrates the heritage of Sufi minstrel Amir Khusrau, and delivered a speech emphasizing India’s rich artistic inclusivity. In his speech, Modi stressed how Sufi saints embraced different traditions, quoting Amir Khusrau and Mirza Ghalib to stress the dateless communication of concinnity. He substantiated Ghalib’s words" When we wake up, we see the distance between Kashi and Kashan is only half a step," illustrating the deep connections between societies." He quoted extensively from Khusarau & Ghalib and spoke about the graces of Sufism and cordiality. Ecuador’s Ambassador Fernando Bucheli noted that music serves as a ground between communities.
